The tool

What this solves

Most guides say 'spring or autumn' which collapses 6 different regions into one answer. Essaouira's autumn is wet; the Atlas's autumn is best for hiking; Marrakech's autumn is best for sightseeing; Chefchaouen's autumn is best for photography. This tool scores 6 regions across 12 months for 5 different priorities.

How to read the result

Each region is scored 1-10 per month: 10 = ideal, 1 = don't go.

Best-worst answer picks the highest- and lowest-scoring months for your priority.

Priority modifiers shift the score: 'Best weather' keeps raw; 'Fewer crowds' boosts shoulder months; 'Lower prices' boosts low season; 'Active' boosts summer for Atlas/Sahara.

Limitations

These are long-run averages from M--t--o Maroc and personal traveller surveys, not forecasts for any specific year. A late-spring heatwave or unusual November rain will shift the actual experience. Easter and Eid dates shift Ramadan and the religious tourism peak.

Mid-January to mid-February (post-holiday, pre-spring) and most of June. November is also low except for the Eid al-Adha week.

Easter week (April), October half-term (UK), Christmas-New Year, Eid al-Fitr (date varies). Riad pricing doubles in these weeks.

When should I avoid Marrakech?

July and August. 38-42--C, riads sold out, souks crowded, afternoon sightseeing uncomfortable. The exceptions are nights -- Marrakech summer evenings are pleasant.
