Heatwave impact -- what your day looks like in each region
In summer, Morocco is not 'hot' uniformly. Marrakech can be 45--C; the Atlas 24--C; the coast 30--C. The right trip in August is a coast-and-Atlas trip, not a Marrakech-sahara trip. This tool tells you what your day actually looks like.

What this solves
Most guides say 'Morocco is hot in summer' as if that's a single temperature. It isn't. Marrakech in July is 38--C; the Atlas 28--C; the coast 24--C. The right trip in July is one that uses the geography: nights at altitude, days at the coast, the desert in shoulder season. This tool tells you what your day actually feels like.
How to read the result
Temp is the chosen time-of-day, not the daily max.
Verdicts: extreme (40+), uncomfortable (35-40), warm (28-35), pleasant (18-28), cool (<18).
Outdoor activities get extra warning at high temps.
Limitations
These are 30-year averages, not real-time forecasts. A 2025 heatwave pushed Marrakech to 47--C in July -- outside the long-run average. Altitude temperatures shift ~6--C per 1000m; the Atlas numbers here are real station data.
FAQ
When is the Atlas too cold for hiking?
Above 3000m: Nov-Apr requires winter gear. Below 2000m: year-round ok.
When is the Sahara too hot?
Jul-Aug, daytime 42--C. Nights are 25--C but days are unforgiving. Camel trekking at dawn only.
Should I avoid Marrakech in summer?
If you have flexibility, yes -- go to the coast or the Atlas. If you're locked in, plan around midday (riads with pools, AC, hammams).
