Airport 鈫?medina transfer cost

Most guidebooks give a single number for 'taxi from the airport'. The real answer depends on airport, time of arrival, and whether your riad has booked a pickup.

The tool

What this solves

The 'official airport taxi' price printed in 2019 guidebook is not what you pay in 2026 if you arrive after sunset. The same is true of the assumption that the airport petit-taxi counter is honest. This tool lays out the three or four realistic options for each major Moroccan airport, the cost band you should expect, and the per-person split once group size and bag count are known.

How to read the result

Costs are shown as a band. The lower end is what you pay if you use the official counter, the riad pickup is honest, or you book ahead. The upper end is what you pay if you accept the first driver who walks up to you in the terminal.

Per-person columns assume the group shares the cost evenly. With 4 people in a whole-car grand taxi in Marrakech, that's 25-40 MAD per person to the medina 鈥?cheaper than a shared petit taxi counter in any other airport.

Riad pickup is shown as a band because honest riads arrange transfers at the published rate (often 100-150 MAD for Marrakech) while upscale properties quote 30-40 EUR. Ask before you confirm the booking.

Limitations

All prices are 2026 reference values. Agadir and Casablanca have the most variation because airport-to-medina distance is large. Bands collapse for honest riad pickups (one number); they spread for ad-hoc ranks. If your flight is at 03:00, the 'night' band may underestimate 鈥?small airports like Ouarzazate may not have any drivers at all and you'll need a pre-booked pickup.

FAQ

Is the petit taxi counter at Marrakech Menara honest?

Generally yes during the day. The price is published on a sign, the driver uses the meter from the rank, and tipping is optional. At night the meter is usually replaced by a flat quote 50-100 MAD higher.

Should I accept the riad's pre-booked transfer?

For the first night, especially at Marrakech medina where the riad may be a car-refusalin alley, yes. Most medina riads send a man with a trolley who walks your bags in. Pre-booked is the difference between 150 MAD and 400 MAD if you arrive tired.

What about Al Boraq from Mohammed V?

For Mohammed V specifically, the train is the right answer almost every time. 43 MAD, 43 minutes, 30 minute frequency, runs to ~22:30. The only reason to take a taxi is if you're 4 people with a lot of luggage late at night.
